Gretchen Eichberger: Bio

Gretchen Eichberger

Musician and Sleepybeings Producer, Gretchen Eichberger, was influenced by her mother's passion for Romantic era piano composers, and her father's post Cold War- era record collection.

Piano lessons at the age of four, transcended to violin, voice, and guitar study.

Her vocal artistry has been inspired by Astrud Gilberto, Michelle Shocked, Roseane Cash, Barbara Brousal, and opera divias ala Renee Fleming and Dawn Upshaw.

Her cosmic influences include Carl Sagan, Martha Graham, Jerome Kern, and J.S. Bach.

Branching out from her classical foundation, Gretchen has focused her music on the traditions of American folk music by continuing her independent study of the fiddle, guitar, composition, song writing, and re-inventing long lost songs.

In contrast, she has most recently immersed herself in the study tai chi, yoga, and the Martha Graham dance technique.

Dedicated to her daughter Gwendolyn, portions of the album's proceeds will benefit music education programs in northern rural Michigan.
